Intelliwave Technologies has recently been awarded the contract from Fluor Canada
to track project construction materials, such as pipe spools, using Intelliwave’s
SiteSense® Tracking System with rugged active RFID tags for the Vale Long Harbour
Nickel Processing Plant, located in Newfoundland, Canada. The items tracked total
in the tens of thousands and will be the largest quantity of construction materials
tracked using active RFID tags, more than any other jobsite to date.
“Project site material handlers and expediters will be able to utilize Intelliwave’s
patent pending SiteSense® Tracking System to instantaneously be informed when materials
are expected to arrive to site, when they’ve arrived at site and the exact positions
of each piece anywhere on the massive project site and at any of the off-site lay
down yards” said Dale Beard, Sr. Product Manager for Intelliwave Technologies. “With
unprecedented visibility of all of their major tagged equipment pieces, project
managers will be able to better predict project completion based on getting materials
to the workface when needed, without being delayed from critical materials not immediately
found.”
Intelliwave Technologies is currently in the bid award process for many more major
industrial construction projects located throughout Canada and the US. “We expect
SiteSense® to help make industrial construction projects more efficient by locating
materials in a matter of minutes so the workface crews are not delayed” said Dale
Beard.
